Dr. Garry W. Froese

Garry

Garry Froese received his musical education in Canada and the United States. His interests have led him to earn degrees in a variety of areas including voice performance, music education, arts administration and choral conducting. He has studied with conductors Lloyd Pfautsch, Elmer Thomas, John Leman, Earl Rivers Jr. and European choral conductor Helmuth Rilling.
Garry graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati.

Garry has worked diligently to promote the arts and education, and particularly choral music in Manitoba. He has conducted various church and community choirs.
His choirs have performed at National MusicFest, North Central American Choral Directors Association conference and the national conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors.
With his choirs he has toured across Canada, to the United States (including Carnegie Hall, New York), Hawaii and, and Cuba.
He has served as the Music Director of the San Diego Children's Choir, performing with professional organizations including the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Chamber Orchestra and the San Diego Ballet.

Garry 2Garry Froese served as the Head of Fine Arts and Choral Teacher at Glenlyon Norfolk School in Victoria. He has also instructed voice majors at the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM), and conducted the VCM Chorale, a college level chorus.

He has served as clinician, adjudicator and speaker at vocal and choral festivals, workshops and music education advocacy sessions across Canada and in the United States.

In 2007 Garry joined the Linden Singers of Victoria.
